<\/a><\/p>\nLike knives. Like most things, there’s a middle stage where they just don’t look like they’re going to be much. It’s always the fettling that takes the time. But this is almost ready for fettling. Need to harden and temper the blade, bolt on the guard, and then polish for ever.<\/p>\n
Speaking of polishing forever, this is a pillbox for my lovely girlfriend. The lid is a piston fit, and took a long time to get there. It was an interference fit when I first turned it, and after hours of polishing and lapping, I got it so that you can actually open it, which is a bonus. I’m quite pleased with it.<\/p>\n Double axle hoverboard wheel! This was also fun – excursions in fixturing. I didn’t have enough Z axis height in the mill to put this in my mill vice with the large drill bit – so it went in the vice I made at TAFE as my first experience with machining.<\/p>\n That was fun. So much fun, I might make another one!<\/p>\n Yet Another Workbench. This is so I can set up my bench grinder so I can finally grind bits for the lathe. Also, it’s for keeping my steel off the damn wet garage floor:<\/p>\n And we started with curtains. It’s winter, and my study has never really felt warm and welcoming. Now it does, with the help of some velvet I’ve had hanging around since I was a goth …<\/p>\n Holidays, thank fuck. Terrible exams, dubious results.
